Scott was the drummer in Wilderness of Tekoa with Ryan that ended over 4 years ago.
We remained great friends with the Scott's.
They just moved back to south FL from D.C. after opening the first Habatat Coffee shop.
They are a young 30ish (ok, Nat is 29) married couple with a 7-month old precious baby girl, Selah, and have made the ground floor of
Habatat Galleries (run by Sean's bro, Jay) their home.
This weekend we got to join them for a soft pre-opening with family and friends.
It was inspiring to see them in their element, actively pursuing a dream that I remember them bouncing around their heads several years ago.
Sean uses this quote to summarize their mission for the company:
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. -Leo Buscaglia
This shop is the first non chain coffee store (that I can think of) for the downtown West Palm Beach area.
It's about time, I say! I'm not a huge supporter of Starbucks (except for Pumpkin spice latte season), but I do like my Dunkin Donuts (Sean, forgive me).
They only sell fair trade & organic coffee.
I bought my first bag made by Barrington Roasting Co. It's from Costa Rica and it's delicious!
Here are some pictures from Saturday:
Even if you aren't local, join their facebook page and you can contact them to order their assorted coffee beans! (Yes, they only come whole). You won't be disappointed!
And, just for fun - here are some band pictures when they were on tour. I was still in college and Ryan and I had just got engaged! You can still find their album on ITunes :)
